what tent? what backpack? need advice mga sir

mga sir, ma'am, I need your advice. newbie lang ako sa mountaineering. gusto ko lang malaman kung ano brand and model ng backpack, tent, stove at iba pang equipment ang dapat ko bilin, ayoko kasi magka mali ng pag bili, medyo mahal din kasi. hehehe...

sir since baguhan ka kamo, definitely karamihan ng mga unang climbs mo ay minor then unti-unti sasama ka na sa mga major. tingin ko gusto mong maging self-contained na climber. heto po ang aking mai-a-advice na gears para sa yo.

1. TENT -  go for a free-standing tadpole tent (Apexus is popular as it is the least expensive). If you have the budget go for a tadpole type tent na ultralight at pang 1 to 2 persons. Popular brands are Mountain Hardware, Nothface, Columbia, etc. pero mahirap bumili ng ganito kasi usually online webstores  lang sila  available. Check mo www.rei.com para lang may idea ka sa mga ultra-light tents. Go ultra-light sir kung may budget di ka magsisisi.

2. BACKPACK - 30 to 40 liters na backpack at depende rin sa budget. kung may budget pinaka-available dito sa atin yung DEUTER at Northface meron nito sa Tobys at sa R.O.X. isukat mo yung backpack bago mo bilhin. importanteng tama yung sukat ng backpack sa yo. Sa R.O.X maraming brands doon an pagpipilian. Reasonable ang prices nila at pwede pang 0% interest staggered payment sa Credit Card

3. STOVE - kung may budget din lang mag multi-fuel stove ka na. MSR ang pinaka-popular. Meron din sa Kovea, etc. Kung MSR pipiliin mo highly recommended ko Whisperlite Internationale kasi magaan. Yung pagsi-simmer takes practice pero di naman palagi kelangan mag-simmer. Yung mga Kovea na canister type stove ok din at mura pa.

4. SHOES - pinaka the best ay hi-cut or mid-cut trekking shoes pero yun nga lang mabigat. Any brand will do basta pang trail/trekking or trail/running. Kung saan ka komportable yun ang piliin mo. Popular brands like Northface, Merrell, Solomon and Hitec serve their purpose. Madami ito sa R.O.X.

5. Other gears - visit na lang po ninyo R.O.X. Di ko naman sinasabi doon kayo bumili pero marami kasi kayong makikita doon that will give you an idea on what gear you should have. Located po ito sa Bonifaco High Street, The Fort, Taguig. Marami din po sa Conquer sa Robinsons Pioneer Mall.

Here are my personal choices:

TENT
Locally made - Apexus Tadpole (ala na tatalo dito. para sa akin ito na ang pinaka-best na 2 to 3 person tent)
Foreign madet - REI or Big Agnes Seedhouse Ultralight tents. Gamit ko po ngayon REI Chrysalis kaya love your own ako

BACKPACK

Locally made - Conquer Traverse 40 or Assault 50. Pero since mas ok ang mas maliit na pack ok din para sa akin yung Conquer Ridge Runner.
Foreign made - Deuter Futura 28 (gamit ko ngayon) or FuturaPro 38. Gusto ko din yung TNF Terra 30 or Terra 40 pati yung Ligaro. Pero Deuter loyalist ako hehehe


STOVE - nothing else but the MSR WHISPERLITE INTERNATIONALE

SHOES - personal preference ko ngayon ay kung saan ako comfortable kaya gamit ko ay Adidas Trail Running Shoes. Ito ang shoes na hindi ako pinapaltos. Gumamit na ako Merrell, FILA at Solomon ok naman sila. Di ko pa na-try TNF kasi namamahalan ako hehehe

backpack - first, comply with your torso length. dapat maganda ang fit sa likod mo.

tent - if minimalist mountaineer ka, dapat 1 person tent lang bilhin mo. if gusto mo naman may kasama ka pagtulog, 2-3 persons tent ang bilhin mo.

stove - if backpacker ka and mahilig magtravel around the world, all-fuel stove and bilhin mo. pero dito sa pinas, ok na kahit dual fuel stove lang.

shoes - TNF, yun lang!

Capacity: 2 persons tent
Price: Php 3,500.00

Nabili ko cia kay Xplore. online. check nyo yung page nya baka may mga bagong tents.
Money Wise, Magaan, Compact, Water-resistant, 3 seasons tent.
kaso hndi cia free standing (ok lang).


3.  Shoes

Model: Nevados (di ko alam yung model)
Price: Php 4,500.00 discounted price: Php 1,800.

Nabili ko sa Landmark Makati. Naka sale sila dati. malapit sa bridge going to greenbelt.
Check nyo baka mag sale ulit sila. Clearance sale na yata sila eh.
Mabigat, pero durable, at mura. hehehe.



Yan lang naman po ay Quality gears na Budget Friendly na mga gamit.
Pero if you have budget for high-end stuff, edi asteeg,
